330 Tourquant

A gem of an Aire and very popular too. Seems a wealthy village and many buildings still underground.
FOC to park and Bourne water costs $2.50.
Close by is Monsoreau and the village of Canes

  1. Both an easy bike ride away. Monsoreau is not MoHo friendly and Canes bans large traffic.
The Aire down river is now closed. Shame as this had EHU.

  2. Learnt the game of Boule Fort and had a very friendly welcome from the locals.

  3. Montsoreau. (Cycle ride from Torquant)
A very pretty hill-side village on the banks of the Loire where it joins with the Vienne.
It is also on the 0 meridian.
    Castle is small but imposing.
The Loire tolls run from here down to our fist Loire stop at Chaptoceaux.

  4. Canes (another cycle ride)
    Narrow streets, MoHos forbidden.
Wonderful church where St Martin died.

The Aire with EHU is no more but next door is a nice one at

    Turquant
A wealthy village with many houses built into the cliff faces, Troclodyte.
Learnt here about Boule Fort and how village has a Union. Close to a stop down on the Loire banks where I could fish.

  6. Fontevraude Abbey (Short drive away)
Where Richard Lionheart and his mother, Elainor of Aquetaine are buried.
Expensive entrance and CP a long walk from Abbaye Royale.
However the bourne is foc and better than Turquant’s.
